Frequently Asked Questions

What is STiKS GAMING?
STiKS GAMING is a platform designed to unite the gaming community for the benefit of charity. We asked ourselves, "Why can't people play their favorite games AND raise money for charity?". Now they can!

How does STiKS GAMING Work?
For Charities: Registered 501c3 charities can work with the STiKS GAMING platform by contacting us at contact@stiksgaming.com.
For Gamers: Gamers can Register on the STiKS GAMING platform by clicking here. Then you have to fill in a name, email address and choose your STiKS ID and password.

What are STiKS POINTS (SP) and how do I use them?
STiKS Points are given to registered users of STiKS GAMING in order to allow gaming with other users. The STiKS GAMING Platforms primarily allow registered users to donate money to a charity in exchange for STiKS Points, which can be redeemed for the opportunity to play a video game match against another user. For the match, each player plays the selected video game on his or her own video gaming system. After the scores are reported and confirmed on the STiKS GAMING Platform, the winner of the match (the player with the higher score) receives a refund of the STiKS Points he or she redeemed for that match and earns the points that other player redeemed to play the match, as well. The winner can use those accumulated points to play more matches. If the losing player has no more points, he or she can make a donation to a charity to play more matches. The STiKS GAMING Platforms may also offer additional competitions from time to time as described on the platforms. If and to the extent a STiKS GAMING Platform allows points to be redeemed for prizes, legal residents of Arizona, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Montana, Tennessee, and Vermont are not eligible for that opportunity and may not receive any prize.

What does STiKS GAMING cost?
There is no fee paid to STiKS GAMING to play through our platform. By making a donation to one of our charity partners we reward you with STiKS Points which you can use to be matched up for games on the STiKS GAMING Platform.

What happens at scheduled gaming times?
The times on our schedule are what we call a "gaming rush". At these scheduled times, everyone who wants to play the chosen game, on either console that game is offered should go play! Everyone who plays and then reports a score (win or lose) may get another entry into any of our sweepstakes valid in your country or state. Thousands of nonprofits outsource their transaction security to FirstGiving. It is our top priority to ensure that transaction data is kept secure at all times.

We take an active role in the overall reduction of identity theft and fraud on the internet by ensuring the security of our IT systems, personnel and infrastructure.

Our staff are trained in all aspects of web application security, including infrastructure vulnerabilities, cross-site scripting, secure data storage, and using the software development life cycle to maintain and improve security.
FirstGiving has been certified PCI compliant by Trustwave, an official Visa Qualified Security Assessor. This means our systems and services comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard and that we actively protect our customers' identities, personal information and financial details.
Our security efforts are focused on the following areas:
Transaction security
FirstGiving secured by VeriSign

All transaction and credit card information entering FirstGiving systems is encrypted using 128-bit SSL certificates from Verisign. No cardholder information is ever passed unencrypted in a web browser to FirstGiving. You can be completely secure in the knowledge that nothing you enter as part of a secure FirstGiving transaction can be examined, used or modified by any third parties attempting to gain access to sensitive information.

Encryption and data storage
At our Data Center rigorous physical, electronic, and personnel security measures protect your data. Those measures are regularly assessed by One-Sec Ltd, an official Visa Qualified Security Assessor.
Once on our systems, credit card data is encrypted and securely stored in our dedicated hosting facilities at our Data Center. Our servers and network infrastructure are owned and used by FirstGiving for the provision of fundraising services, and not shared with any other company or industry.

Links to banks
FirstGiving authorizes credit card transactions in partnership with Litle & Co. Any cardholder information sent to the banks and any authorization message coming back is secure and cannot be tampered with.

Employee access
Our systems only allow access to authorized staff. Your transaction information and customer card information is secure even from our own employees because our systems never display the full card numbers, even on administration screens.

Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard compliance
The PCI DSS is a set of security standards that apply across the card payment industry worldwide that help safeguard cardholder information and improve consumer confidence.

The Standard was developed by the founding payment brands of the PCI Security Standards Council, including American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa International, to help facilitate the broad adoption of consistent data security measures on a global basis.

The PCI DSS is a multifaceted security standard that includes requirements for security management, policies, procedures, network architecture, software design and other critical protective measures. This comprehensive standard is intended to help organizations proactively protect customer account data.
